The ENS de Lyon and its partners offer scholarships (Ampère, MILYON & Quan TEdu-France Scholarships) for excellent international students to enrol in its Master’s programs.

For each Master’s degree, it is indicated whether it is open for international students.

For thorough guidance on the choice of Master’s degree, please read carefully the Master’s programs description. The International Student Office will not be able to assist you in this regard.

Conditions

To apply for the first year of a Master’s program (M1), applicants should justify holding a L3 degree (Bachelor – 180 ECTS) or, for applicants who have studied abroad, an equivalent level.

To apply for the second year of a Master’s program (M2), applicants should justify holding a M1 degree (240 ECTS) or, for applicants who have studied abroad, an equivalent level.

Scholarships of Excellence – Presentation

Ampère Scholarships of Excellence

  • About 20 scholarships granted each year
  • Master’s programs eligible: all Master’s programs in Exact Sciences, the Arts, and Human and Social Sciences (except FEADéP Master’s programs). Consult the rules related to the Ampère scholarship (document on the right)
  • Amount: 1,000€ per month for one academic year (renewable under conditions)

Specific partnerships with some countries 
– our partnership with the Embassy of France in Romania and Campus France enables us to offer up to 2 scholarships of Excellence to students from Romania.
– American students enrolled in a US University applying for a Master’s program at the ENS de Lyon can also apply for the Embassy of France in the USA Graduate Scholars in France scholarship program.

MILYON Scholarship

QuanTEdu-France Scholarship

  • Master’s programs eligible: Physics and Chemistry MasterAdvanced Mathematics and Computer sciences: concepts and applications
  • Amount: 1,000€ per month for 12 months
  • The QuanTEdu-France project typically funds one scholarship per year for students interested in training in quantum science and technology. Concretely, this consists in joining a Master’s degree in Physics, Advanced Mathematics or Fundamental Computer Science, and committing to an internship at the ENS de Lyon in quantum sciences and technologies. The project is financed by the France 2030 program.

  1. Complete and submit the online application form.
    Important information: by clicking on the following link, you will have to register to access the form. After registering, you will be able to connect and access the form.

    Applications submitted after the deadline will not be considered.
    Applications submitted via email will not be considered.
    Incomplete applications will not be considered – it is the responsibility of the student to check that all requested documents have been uploaded.
    Documents requested are indicated below.Please note: this form allows you to apply for a Master’s program and for a scholarship of excellence. 
  2. Application review: all applications are reviewed by the admission committee of the ENS de Lyon. No results will be given by phone.
  3. Admissions and enrolment: if your application is accepted, you will receive a letter of pre-enrolment with the steps to be followed to enrol.

Documents requested

Please note : the International Student Office will not pre-validate the application. it is the responsibility of the student to check that all the requested documents have been uploaded. The uploaded documents will be examined after the validation of the online application. 

See below the documents that the candidates have to upload in the application form – in French or English ONLY:

  • All candidates: 
    • Two referee letters (in French or English) from professors who have close knowledge of your work – if you are not able to upload the letters, they can be send by the professors by email to ampere.scholarship@ens-lyon.fr (with your name and the Master’s chosen clearly written in the name of the document)
    • Motivation Letter
    • Curriculum Vitae
    • Certificate of diplomas and degrees already obtained (ex: Bachelor degree) –  documents are accepted only in French or English. If  the document is in another language, you have to provide a translated document in French or English, officially certified
    • University academic transcript of records – documents are accepted only in French or English. If  the document is in another language, you have to provide a translated document in French or English, officially certified
    • For the current year: proof of enrollment – documents are accepted only in French or English –
      PLEASE NOTE : if not available now, the required diploma for Master’s admission will have to be transmitted before the beginning of the academic year (compulsory)
  • If you are applying for a Master’s program in Arts, Humanities, Languages or Social Sciences:
    • a summary of your research project in French (3 pages minimum) – except for Master in Advanced Economics (in English)
      the reasons underlying the choice, the justification in relation to previous research in the same field (whether personal or not), methodological direction, an indicative bibliography, a list of personal publications or participations in colloquia (if applicable)
    • a certificate of proficiency in French and/or English
  • If you are applying for a Master’s program in Exact Sciences:
    • a certificate of proficiency in English and/or French
