All selected candidates will, therefore, undergo rigorous reference and background checks.<\/p>\n<p>Background<\/p>\n<p>UN Women, grounded in the vision of equality enshrined in the Charter of the United Nations, works for the elimination of discrimination against women and girls; the empowerment of women; and the achievement of equality between women and men as partners and beneficiaries of development, human rights, humanitarian action and peace and security.<\/p>\n<p>The Policy, Programme and Intergovernmental Division (PPID) sets the programmatic standards, assures the quality of programme design, and provides guidance to country level programme work of UN Women, as well as supporting the coordination role of UN Women at regional and country level. The division has global policy expertise, manages Global Trust Funds, and Global Programmes, and provides technical capacity to countries on request, including a humanitarian response capacity.<\/p>\n<p>The UN Women Strategic Plan (2022-2025) is based on key findings from an extensive consultative process and draws from the analysis of lessons learned and recommendations from evaluations, audits, and other assessments, including those from the 25-year review and appraisal of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action. Given the interconnected nature of global challenges, UN Women will focus on integrated approaches with seven systemic outcomes to address the root causes of inequality and affect broader systems change, across its four thematic focus areas: 1) governance and participation in public life; 2) women\u2019s economic empowerment; 3) ending violence against women and girls; and 4) women, peace and security, humanitarian action, and disaster risk reduction.<\/p>\n<p>The Research and Data Section (R&amp;D) produces policy relevant research and analysis, gender data and statistics to inform programme development and implementation, policy-making, and advocacy and accountability for UN Women to become a strong, knowledge-based organization in line with UN Women\u2019s Strategic Plan 2022-2025. R&amp;D leads research and data analysis on policy-relevant gender equality issues, including the publication of UN Women\u2019s flagship reports Progress of the World\u2019s Women, World Survey on the Role of Women in Development, State of Gender Data, Gender Indices, and series publications (Discussion Papers and Policy Briefs) in UN Women\u2019s priority areas. R&amp;D leads monitoring of the SDGs from a gender perspective and produces the annual Gender Snapshot Report and the Spotlight on the SDGs series. By implementing its signature intervention on Gender Statistics and Data \u201cMaking Every Women and Girl Count II\u201d, R&amp;D leads normative and technical work to improve the quality, availability and use of gender statistics at the national, regional and global level.<\/p>\n<p>Duties and Responsibilities<\/p>\n<p>Functions \/ Key Results Expected<\/p>\n<p>Summary of key functions:<\/p>\n<p>Support the Deputy Chief to plan and project manage the development of Progress of the World\u2019s Women, including resource mobilization and donor relations<br \/>\nLead the production of the Progress report and its associated products, including oversight of editorial processes for the project and leading on procurement processes and other operations. Contribute to the production of other R&amp;D knowledge products.<br \/>\nContribute to communications and outreach activities for R&amp;D products, including the Progress report launches and its web and social media presence.<br \/>\nCoordinate the production of UN Women\u2019s series publications, namely the UN Women\u2019s Discussion Paper series, the UN Women Policy Brief series and SDG Spotlight Papers.<\/p>\n<p>1. Support the Deputy Chief to plan the development of Progress of the World\u2019s Women, including resource mobilization and donor relations:<\/p>\n<p>Draft and maintain the project timeline and production schedule, ensuring that planning mechanisms are established to meet the deliverables for the project.<br \/>\nOrganize expert and advisory group meetings.<br \/>\nWorking with the Programme Associate, oversee the project\u2019s budget and procurement plan, including relevant procurement and HR processes and contracts.<br \/>\nSupport the Deputy Chief to draft and submit grant proposals, manage donor agreements and relations.<br \/>\nContribute to background research for the reports, as time allows.<\/p>\n<p>2. Lead the production of Progress and its associated products including oversight of editorial processes for the project and leading on procurement processes and other operations:<\/p>\n<p>Be responsible for securing vendor contracts for editing, design, web development, printing, translation of the report; develop and manage contracts for consultants.<br \/>\nSupport the commissioning of background research and data analysis by developing terms of reference, overseeing contracts and keeping track of deliverables and payments.<br \/>\nMaintain the project\u2019s editorial guidelines and serve as the copy-editing focal point.<br \/>\nEnsure the finalization of all content, coordinate the fact checking process for the project, references, and front and back matter.<br \/>\nWork with design vendors to develop a visual identity of the report and coordinate the design and layout of the report.<br \/>\nCoordinate the web presence of the report, working with the relevant internal colleagues and external vendors.<br \/>\nLiaise with the printers to organize printing of the report and manage print schedules in line with the launch dates.<br \/>\nSupport production of other R&amp;D knowledge products, as time allows.<\/p>\n<p>3. Contribute to communications and outreach activities for R&amp;D products, including Progress launches and its web and social media presence.<\/p>\n<p>Contribute to the overall outreach and engagement strategy for Progress.<br \/>\nBe an active member of the Research and Data section\u2019s communications working group and support outreach for other R&amp;D knowledge products, including through Progress News e-newsletter.<br \/>\nOrganize the global launches and media outreach. Serve as the focal point for regional launches and coordinate outreach for additional events and initiatives.<br \/>\nWork with the communications team to prepare and update web pages, web articles and social media content to promote the report.<br \/>\nInitiate distribution of Progress to all stakeholders, starting with UN Women offices<br \/>\nSupport the preparation of materials for the launch of Progress and ongoing advocacy efforts, including country fact sheets and other presentation materials.<\/p>\n<p>4. Background in project management is required.<\/p>\n<p>Experience: Minimum of two years of professional experience combined at national and\/or international levels in advocacy, project management and communications.
