We represent over 100 youth organisations, which bring together tens of millions of young people from all over Europe.<br \/>\nThe Youth Forum works to empower young people to participate actively in society to improve their own lives by representing and advocating their needs and interests and those of their organisations. We believe young people can be powerful catalysts for positive change and contributors of innovative solutions to Europe\u2019s challenges.<br \/>\nTHE POSITION<br \/>\nWe are recruiting a Policy Officer, focused on social and economic inclusion. The successful candidate will work in the Policy and Advocacy Department in the External Affairs Team, under the supervision of the Policy and Advocacy Manager.<br \/>\nThe Policy Officer will work on policy &amp; advocacy in the field of social and economic inclusion, working specifically on access to social protection and the future of work (i.e. focusing on platform work in 2023), mental wellbeing and impact of COVID-19, as well as being part of the core team working on the 2024 EU elections. The Policy Officer will join a team currently working on youth rights, and a better transition from education to employment, and will be expected to contribute to the work of the team.<br \/>\nAs the priorities and working areas of the Youth Forum are defined by its Member Organisations and Board, these are subject to change on a regular basis.<br \/>\nRESPONSIBILITIES<br \/>\nBe the main point of contact and expert on quality working conditions and mental wellbeing for young people.<br \/>\nIdentify, plan, execute and implement opportunities for advocacy on the future of work and mental wellbeing at EU level, and where relevant Council of Europe and UN level.<br \/>\nCo-lead the team working on the Youth Forum\u2019s advocacy and campaign for the 2024 EU elections, including building out the strategy, organising meetings, events and stunts<br \/>\nInfluence the EU negotiations on platform workers and minimum income.<br \/>\nSupport team colleagues with the Youth Forum\u2019s advocacy on youth rights and a better transition from education to employment.<br \/>\nCollaborate with Member Organisations and coordinate working structures in the policy field or working area (online spaces &amp; networks).<br \/>\nEnsure ongoing and regular coordination with the European Youth Forum Board for areas under the portfolio.<br \/>\nRepresent the Youth Forum externally (e.g. meetings with institutional stakeholders, stakeholder consultation groups, conferences).<br \/>\nBuild strategic partnerships with relevant external institutional stakeholders and civil society, as well as the European Youth Forum membership.<br \/>\nContribute to the development of the annual plan of the European Youth Forum and ensure that the objectives of the Annual Plan related to this position are met within the agreed timeframe.<br \/>\nDraft briefings, reports, research, working and strategy papers as well as articles for internal and external European Youth Forum publications.<br \/>\nCoordinate the organisation of relevant meetings and conferences.<br \/>\nOversee execution of the budget allocated to the working area.<br \/>\nReport to and support the Policy and Advocacy Manager on youth rights<br \/>\nProvide support to other colleagues and departments of the European Youth Forum as appropriate and necessary.<br \/>\nPROFILE OF THE IDEAL CANDIDATE<br \/>\nAt least three years of advocacy experience is required.<br \/>\nProven ability to produce advocacy materials and to develop mechanisms to share and manage advocacy information and knowledge.<br \/>\nProven interest in the diversity of policy issues that impact youth and commitment to a rights-based approach.<br \/>\nExperience in advocacy at EU level, with a good understanding of the internal workings and how to influence their processes, is a strong asset.<br \/>\nExperience with coordinating networks\/coalitions of members and partners is an asset.<br \/>\nExperience in campaigning at local, national or EU level is a strong asset.<br \/>\nExperience and interest in public speaking and media interviews is an asset<br \/>\nA higher education degree in social science, law, political science, international or EU affairs or other relevant fields is desirable, but relevant NGO and\/or non-formal education experience is also recognised.<br \/>\nA quick learner and self-starter with strong ability to develop knowledge on new concepts and adapt to new processes.<br \/>\nAn effective communicator and a strong team player.<br \/>\nStrong planning and organization skills.<br \/>\nAbility to synthesise detailed policy positions and write in a concise and impactful manner.<br \/>\nExcellent interpersonal skills.<br \/>\nExperience working in a multicultural environment.<br \/>\nWillingness to travel on a regular basis and to work flexible hours and on weekends, when required.<br \/>\nAbility to meet tight deadlines and manage a challenging workload.<br \/>\nComputer literacy, with good working knowledge of word processing, email and online applications.<br \/>\nLanguages: Strong oral and written English is required, good knowledge of French is an asset.<br \/>\nCommitted to the European Youth Forum\u2019s vision and mission.<br \/>\nTERMS OF THE CONTRACT<br \/>\nThe contract is open-ended and full time (35 hours per week). The gross monthly salary according to the Collective Bargaining Agreement currently applied at the European Youth Forum) is \u20ac2922.<br \/>\nA relocation package, hospitalisation insurance and other benefits are available. Travel expenses within the Brussels region are covered by the European Youth Forum.<br \/>\nCandidates for this position should be willing to travel and work flexible hours including if required occasional weekends.
