Necessary templates can already be found on this page to support you in preparation of your application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<section id=\"overview\" class=\"scholarship__section scholarship__section--slim\">\n<h2 class=\"scholarship__title\">Overview<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<div class=\"kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">\n<div class=\"kvgmc6g5 cxmmr5t8 oygrvhab hcukyx3x c1et5uql ii04i59q\">What is SI Scholarship for Global Professionals?<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>The SI Scholarship for Global Professionals aims to develop future global leaders that will contribute to t<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.un.org\/sustainabledevelopment\/sustainable-development-goals\/\">he United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development<\/a>\u00a0and to sustainable development. The applicants should have a clear idea of how their education will contribute to the sustainable development of their home countries and regions.\u00a0In 2023 the Swedish Institute will grant about 350 scholarships for master\u2019s degree studies in Sweden.<\/p>\n<p>The scholarship is intended for full-time, one- or two-year master\u2019s programme, and is funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs. The Swedish Institute open the call for applications once every year for master\u2019s studies beginning in the autumn semester.\u00a0In order to have a successful application, make sure to be eligible, complete all steps of the process, and that you have the documentation required to finalise your application in time. Please read through the following pages carefully.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"whats-included\" class=\"scholarship__section scholarship__section--slim\">\n<h2 class=\"scholarship__title\">What&#8217;s included<\/h2>\n<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<div>\n<p>What you get as a scholarship recipient:<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Full tuition fee coverage.<\/strong>\u00a0The fee is paid directly by SI to your Swedish university in the beginning of each semester.<\/li>\n<li><strong>A monthly payment of SEK 11,000<\/strong>\u00a0to cover your living expenses throughout the study period.<\/li>\n<li><a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.kammarkollegiet.se\/engelska\/start\/all-services\/insurance-for-foreign-visitors\"><strong>Insurance against illness and accident<\/strong><\/a><strong>.<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Travel Grant.<\/strong>\u00a0This is a one-time payment and does not apply for students already living in Sweden.\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>For scholars from\u00a0<em>Bangladesh, Bolivia; Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia or Zimbabwe \u2013\u00a0<\/em>the scholarship includes a travel grant of SEK 15,000 for the entire study period.<\/li>\n<li>For scholars from\u00a0<em>Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova, and Ukraine,<\/em>\u00a0the scholarship includes a travel grant of SEK 11,000 for the entire study period.<em><br \/>\n<\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Membership of\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/en\/how-we-work\/build-relations-and-networks\/si-network-for-global-professionals\/\">SI Network for Future Global Professionals<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0(NFGP) \u2013 a platform to help you grow professionally and build a network while in Sweden.<\/li>\n<li>After your scholarship period has ended, you become\u00a0<strong>a member of\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/en\/si-alumni-network\/\">the SI Alumni Network<\/a><\/strong>. As a member, you get a unique opportunity for continued networking and professional development.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h4>The scholarship does\u00a0<em>not<\/em>:<\/h4>\n<ul>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">Provide additional grants for family members.<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">Cover the application fee to University Admissions.<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">Allow changes to the study programme. We are only able to support you through the awarded master\u2019s programme.<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">Allow extensions or changes to the awarded scholarship period.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n<section id=\"criteria\" class=\"scholarship__section\">\n<h2 class=\"scholarship__title\">Criteria<\/h2>\n<div class=\"criterias\">\n<div class=\"criterias__content\">\n<div class=\"criterias__title\">Country of citizenship<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__text\">\n<p>You must be a citizen of a country that is eligible for SI scholarships. However, you do not need to reside in the country at the time of the application.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__content\">\n<div class=\"criterias__title\">University admissions<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__text\">\n<p>You must be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities, have followed the steps of University Admissions and be admitted to one of the eligible master&#8217;s programmes by 30 of March 2023.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__content\">\n<div class=\"criterias__title\">Previous experience<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__text\">\n<p>You must have a minimum of 3,000 hours of demonstrated work experience. In addition, you must have demonstrated leadership experience from your current or previous employer, or from civil society engagement.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__content\">\n<div class=\"criterias__title\">Master&#8217;s programmes<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__text\">\n<p>The master&#8217;s programmes you apply for must be eligible for SI scholarships. We give priority to programmes within certain subject areas, depending on your country of citizenship.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"criterias__wysiwyg\">\n<div class=\"wysiwyg\">\n<h3>Your are not eligible if\u2026<\/h3>\n<p>Regardless of all the eligibility criteria listed above, you are\u00a0<strong>not<\/strong>\u00a0eligible for the SI Scholarships for Global Professionals if you:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">have already resided in Sweden for cumulatively two years or more, prior to the scholarship period (starting August 2023);<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">have previously been awarded a Swedish Institute scholarship for master\u2019s level studies or research at a Swedish university\/university college. Previous participants of the SI Summer Academy for Young Professionals (SAYP), and students who have attended SI summer courses in the Swedish language or the Swedish Institute Summer University (SISU) may still apply;<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">already hold a degree from a Swedish university\/university college;<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">are currently enrolled in a study programme at a Swedish university\/university college;<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">have a Swedish or EU\/EEA citizenship*, a Swedish permanent residence permit or a temporary work- and residence permit based on work or on family ties with a citizen of Sweden\/EU\/EEA country who has a temporary or permanent right of residence in Sweden;\u00a0or<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">have dual citizenship in countries not listed on\u00a0the\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.oecd.org\/dac\/financing-sustainable-development\/development-finance-standards\/DAC-List-of-ODA-Recipients-for-reporting-2022-23-flows.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DAC list of ODA recipients 2022-2023<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div>\n<p><strong><em>\u00a0*Exception:\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><em>students with dual citizenship in Romania may apply for a scholarship even though they are EU citizens, and must state the citizenship that is eligible for the scholarship when applying to both SI as well as University Admissions.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Country of Citizenship<\/h3>\n<p>You must be a citizen of one of the eligible countries. However, you do not need to reside in the country at the time of the application. If your country of citizenship is not listed below, we suggest that you look for\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/studyinsweden.se\/scholarships\/\"><u>other scholarship opportunities.<\/u><\/a><\/p>\n<div class=\"info\">\n<h4><strong>Citizens of the following countries are eligible to apply to the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Belarus; Brazil; Cambodia; Cameroon; Colombia; Ecuador; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Guatemala; Honduras; Indonesia; Jordan; Kenya; Liberia; Malawi; Moldova; Morocco; Myanmar (Burma); Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Philippines; Rwanda; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Tanzania; Tunisia; Uganda; Ukraine; Vietnam; Zambia; Zimbabwe.*<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<p>*<em>As a precautionary measure, SI has decided to pause the scholarship offer for Russian nationals applying for the SI Scholarship for Global Professionals. A reassessment will be made for the subsequent selection process in 2024\/2025.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Dual Citizenship<\/h4>\n<p>If you have dual citizenship(s) and both are eligible for SI scholarship programme(s), you should choose only one of the citizenships when applying for SI scholarships. Applicants who apply to more than one SI scholarship using more than one citizenship, will have both applications disqualified.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>Exception<\/strong>: students with dual citizenship in Romania may apply for a scholarship even though they are EU citizens, but must state the citizenship that is eligible for the scholarship when applying to both SI as well as University Admissions.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Eligible programmes<\/h3>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p>About 700 master\u2019s programmes taught in English starting in the autumn semester 2023 are eligible for an SI scholarship. It is up to you to motivate in your scholarship application if\/how your chosen programmes are related to the prioritised subject areas. You\u2019ll find\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/app\/uploads\/2017\/10\/sisgp-eligible-master-programmes-2023_2024.docx-2.pdf\">the\u00a0<u>list of eligible master programmes for the SISGP call for application academic year 2023\/2024 here<\/u><\/a>.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"info\">For applicants from\u00a0<em>Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia or Zimbabwe \u2013\u00a0<\/em>the greatest priority will be given to master\u2019s studies with an emphasis on the contribution to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.<\/div>\n<div class=\"info\">\n<p>For applicants from\u00a0<em>Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine \u2013\u00a0<\/em>the greatest priority will be given to applicants who choose study programmes with an emphasis on environmental and social sustainability, innovation, responsibility in management or sustainable economic growth (listed in alphabetical order, no priority or ranking is implied).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<h4><strong>In terms of your university application, you must\u2026<\/strong><\/h4>\n<div>\n<ol>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">be liable to pay tuition fees to Swedish universities.\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/fees-scholarships-residence-permit\/who-is-required-to-pay-fees\/#answer-some-questions-to-find-out-if-you-need-to-pay\">Find out if you are liable for tuition fees here.<\/a>\u00a0SI will receive the tuition fee status including your personal information directly from University Admissions.<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">have paid the application fee for master\u2019s programmes to University Admissions by the deadline 1 February 2023. See all\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/key-dates-and-deadlines\/autumn-semester-dates\/\">key dates here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<li data-list=\"bullet\">be admitted (or conditionally admitted) to one of the eligible master\u2019s programmes on 30 March 2023. You can only be awarded a scholarship for the master\u2019s programme you are admitted to on 30 March 2023. Master\u2019s programmes to which you are listed as a\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/selection-and-admissions-results\/admissions-results\/\">reserve<\/a>\u00a0cannot be considered. If you have been admitted to another programme\/programmes of lower priority, it is important\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/find-out-more\/news-and-popular-topics\/declining-places-you-dont-wish-to-keep\/#why-is-it-important-that-i-decline-my-place-if-i-dont-want-it\">that you make sure to decline reserve places on time<\/a>\u00a0so that your successful admissions are not deleted later on. There are no scholarships available for late admissions. Contact\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/support-centre\/\">University Admissions<\/a>\u00a0directly if you have any questions about your application, tuition fees or admittance.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<div><\/div>\n<h3>Previous Experience<\/h3>\n<h4>Work Experience<\/h4>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>To be eligible for Global Professionals, you must have had at least 3,000 hours of work experience prior to 10 February 2023 from a maximum of three organisations\/companies. Valid work experience for Global Professionals includes both full-time and part-time employment, for instance as an employee, employer or freelancer. You will be required to certify the experience in your application. If you do not already have the required amount of work experience, your application will be disqualified. However, it is not required that you are employed at the time of the application.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Priority will be given to applicants with a strong professional background.<\/div>\n<div class=\"info\">For applicants from\u00a0<em>Bangladesh, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, Cameroon, Colombia, Ecuador, Egypt, Ethiopia, Gambia, Ghana, Guatemala, Honduras, Indonesia, Jordan, Kenya, Liberia, Malawi, Morocco, Myanmar (Burma), Nepal, Nigeria, Pakistan, Peru, Philippines, Rwanda, South Africa, Sri Lanka, Sudan, Tanzania, Tunisia, Uganda, Vietnam, Zambia, or Zimbabwe<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0<strong>work experience within the fields in line with\u00a0<\/strong><strong>the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Development<\/strong><strong>\u00a0will be prioritised.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div class=\"info\">For applicants from\u00a0<em>Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova or Ukraine<\/em>\u00a0\u2013\u00a0\u00a0<strong>priority is given to strong work experience within the field related to environmental and social sustainability, innovation, responsibility in management, or sustainable economic growth, especially experience from civil society or public sector.<\/strong><\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>It will also be a merit if you can demonstrate your involvement in networks or civil society organisations outside of your regular work with a letter of reference. Read more about the required documents below.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>How to calculate your employment hours<strong><br \/>\n<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>Here are two examples of how to calculate your employment hours.<\/p>\n<div class=\"info\">\n<p><strong>Scenario 1:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Currently employed full-time, working 40 hours per week for 50 weeks per year for 1 calendar year prior to 10 February 2023, and previously worked part-time as freelancer 12 hours per week for 28 weeks per year for 3 calendar years.<br \/>\nThe calculation is (40 hours x 50 weeks x 1 year = 2,000) + (12 hours x 28 weeks x 3 years = 1,008) = 3,008 hours.<br \/>\nAn applicant within this scenario meets the eligibility criteria for work experience required within the SI Scholarships for Global Professionals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Scenario 2:<br \/>\n<\/strong>Owns a company as self-employed, working 10 hours per week for 35 weeks per year for 3 calendar years. The company will close down on 31 December 2022 and applicant does not have another employment.<br \/>\nThe calculation is (10 hours x 35 weeks x 3 years) = 1,050 hours.<br \/>\nAn applicant within this scenario fails to meet the eligibility criteria for a scholarship due to the lack of work experience hours.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Important information about work experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>You do not need to meet the work experience requirement in one period of employment, nor do you need to have been working in your current role for 3,000 hours in order to be eligible to apply. However, the accumulated 3,000 hours should not be from more than three organisations\/companies.<\/li>\n<li>If you have held more than one position of employment at the same time, all hours for the respective positions can be used to meet the requirement for work experience.<\/li>\n<li>If you are in a current employment, it is not a requirement of the Global Professionals that you resign from your position.<\/li>\n<li>You are advised to discuss your application with your employer. It is also your responsibility to ensure that you will be granted a leave of absence from your work or will be released in time, in case you are selected for a scholarship. SI will not intervene in this.<\/li>\n<li><strong>You must be able to provide certification for the 3,000 hours of work experience by using our forms.<\/strong>\u00a0For more information please see\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/www.universityadmissions.se\/en\/key-dates-and-deadlines\/\"><u>the application procedure and key dates.<\/u><\/a><\/li>\n<li>You can only include working hours obtained prior to 10 February 2023 in your calculation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h4>Leadership Experience<\/h4>\n<div>\n<div>\n<div>In addition to your work experience, you must be able to demonstrate your previous leadership experience. The experience may be demonstrated through for instance previous work experience or involvement in civil society organisations or networks.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>Leadership experience involves the experience to lead other colleagues\/organisations, mandate to influence the development strategy for the organisation you work at, allocate tasks to colleagues and familiarity with decision-making processes.<\/div>\n<div><\/div>\n<div>The leadership experience has no requirement regarding a minimum number of hours.<strong>\u00a0However, priority will be given to applicants with demonstrated strong and relevant leadership experience from employment.<\/strong><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<h3><u><br \/>\n<\/u>Required documents<\/h3>\n<p>We will not consider any other documents than the required ones. You have to use SI\u2019s provided forms, and you must complete your application in English. Otherwise, your application will not be considered further.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A complete application consists of:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CV\u00a0<em>(we only accept the SI-template)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Letters of reference\u00a0<em>(we only accept the SI-template)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Valid and completed proof of work and leadership experience\u00a0<em>(we only accept the SI-template)<\/em><\/li>\n<li>Copy of your valid passport\/National ID card<\/li>\n<li>Motivation (will be asked of you in the application portal)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><em><strong>Note!<\/strong>\u00a0Your application will be disqualified if any of the above is missing.<\/em><\/p>\n<h4>Curriculum Vitae (CV)<\/h4>\n<p>You must use\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/app\/uploads\/2022\/11\/cv-sisgp-2023_2024.docx\">SI\u2019s form for CV 2023\/2024<\/a>\u00a0and the CV should\u00a0<strong>not exceed three pages<\/strong>. It\u2019s up to you to decide which of your previous experiences are relevant for your application. Additional pages will not be considered during the evaluation.<\/p>\n<h4>Letters of reference<\/h4>\n<p>You must use\u00a0<a tabindex=\"0\" href=\"https:\/\/si.se\/app\/uploads\/2022\/11\/letter-of-reference-form-sisgp-2023_2024.docx\">SI\u2019s form for the letter of reference 2023\/2024<\/a>. All letters of reference must be signed by the referee and stamped with an official stamp of the referred organisation or notary office. The work and leadership form should be signed by the referee and stamped with an official stamp of the referred organisation or a notary office. It must clearly show your personal data, including your name, citizenship and photograph. It is your responsibility to ensure that you have a copy of your passport\/National ID card that is\u00a0<strong>valid\u00a0<\/strong>at the time of application.
