Researchers from any country, including Newton Fund countries, are still eligible to apply for this round of the Newton International Fellowship.<\/p>\n<p>Research must be within the Royal Society\u2019s remit of natural sciences, which includes but is not limited to biological research, chemistry, engineering, mathematics and physics. For a full list, please see the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants-schemes-awards\/grants\/subject-groups\">breakdown of subject groups and areas<\/a>\u00a0supported by the Royal Society.<\/p>\n<h3>Am I eligible to apply?<\/h3>\n<p>To be eligible to apply you must:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>have a PhD, or will have a PhD by the time the funding starts<\/li>\n<li>have no more than 7 years of active full time postdoctoral experience at the time of application (discounting career breaks, but including teaching experience and\/or time spent in industry)<\/li>\n<li>be working outside the UK<\/li>\n<li>not hold UK citizenship<\/li>\n<li>be competent in oral and written English<\/li>\n<li>have a clearly defined and mutually-beneficial research proposal agreed with a UK host scientist<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For full details of all eligibility requirements, please read our\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/-\/media\/grants\/schemes\/newton-international-fellowship-scheme-notes.pdf?la=en-GB&amp;hash=290CF19AE640297E8F2FA81F036597D9\">scheme notes (PDF)<\/a>.<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<h3>What is the scheme\u2019s value and tenure?<\/h3>\n<p>The Newton International Fellowships provide funding for two years, covering:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>subsistence, at a fixed rate of \u00a324,000 per annum<\/li>\n<li>research expenses<\/li>\n<li>relocation expenses<\/li>\n<li>contribution to visa costs for Newton International Fellow and their dependents (partner and children)<\/li>\n<li>contribution to overheads at UK Host Organisation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The Newton International Fellowship is a flexible award. It can be held on either a full-time or on a part-time basis (minimum 0.6FTE) for caring responsibilities.\u00a0There is also provision for maternity, paternity, shared parental leave, adoptive or extended sick leave as well as financial support for childcare costs that arise from attending conferences.<\/p>\n<p>Successful applicants may also be eligible to receive annual funding following completion of their fellowship to support networking activities with UK-based researchers.<\/p>\n<h3>What is the application process?<\/h3>\n<p>Applications for the humanities and social sciences should be made to the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.thebritishacademy.ac.uk\/funding\/newton-international-fellowships\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">British Academy<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>If you are unsure about which academy to apply to, contact\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:info@newtonfellowships.org\">info@newtonfellowships.org<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Applications for the natural and physical sciences should be submitted through the Royal Society\u2019s grants management system Flexi-Grant\u00ae.<\/p>\n<p>Your application will go through the process detailed on the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/royalsociety.org\/grants-schemes-awards\/grants\/applications\">Making a grant application<\/a>\u00a0page overseen by the Newton International Fellowships Physical Sciences\u00a0and Biological Sciences\u00a0Panels.<\/p>\n<p>The Royal Society recognises that diversity is essential for delivering excellence in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM). The Society wants to encourage applications from the widest range of backgrounds, perspectives and experiences to maximise innovation and creativity in science for the benefit of humanity. Eligible candidates will be selected from the shortlisted Newton International Fellowship applications.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Private funding for Chinese nationals<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This round, the K.C.
