Position Description<\/th>\nProfessor Marcia Castro is seeking a highly-motivated and capable postdoctoral researcher with an interest in inter-disciplinary quantitative research. The successful candidate will work on malaria-related research, employing a mixture of theory & mathematical\/statistical\/spatial analysis of large datasets. The work will focus on understanding the dynamics of malaria transmission and proposing stratification approaches considering climate, environmental change, and a wide range of socioeconomic, demographic, ecological, and policy factors. The selected candidate will have opportunities to be involved also in additional projects on arboviruses and other infectious diseases. Results of the work will inform control strategies.
\nThe starting date is about August 2021 or sooner. The position is based in Boston. The appointment is for a one-year period, with expected renewal for an additional year based upon satisfactory performance.<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Basic Qualifications<\/th>\nApplicants should have a PhD\/doctoral degree in epidemiology, quantitative ecology, population biology, applied mathematics, statistics, demography, or an equivalent area.
\nCandidates should have the following:
\n1) Record of scholarly publication in peer reviewed journals
\n2) Ability to work both independently and as part of a collaborative team
\n3) Strong organizational, written, and oral communication skills
\n4) Strong quantitative and analytical skills, including infectious disease modeling
\n5) Programming in R (preferable) and\/or Stata<\/td>\n<\/tr>\n
Additional Qualifications<\/th>\nAdditional experience highly desirable:
\n1) Handling large datasets
\n2) Agent base modelling
\n3) Spatial statistics
\n4) Understanding of\u00a0GIS<\/span>, and basic knowledge of the most common tools (such as ArcGis, qGis, or Google Earth Engine)<\/p>\n
