\nStrengthening Youth-Led Movements<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nThe
\n Youth Action Lab is a one year co-creation lab for grassroots youth
\nactivists based in the global south which works to support their
\nmovements to become more resilient and sustainable in their pursuit of a
\n more equitable world. The Lab is an innovative, safe, active,
\ninclusive, collective, representative and connected space, online and
\nphysical for grassroots activists, which thoughtfully considers diverse
\ncontexts and ecosystems to better resource them to flourish with their
\ncommunities. <\/p>\n

Participants in the Lab work to build political
\nsolidarity and networks, strengthen capacities in engaging with policy
\nprocesses, and access resources to support their movement. The Lab will
\nact as a hub for testing new ways of working within civil society and
\nmobilizing learnings from across sectors in support of youth-led
\nmovements<\/p>\n

The Youth Action Lab is a pilot project supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad).<\/a> This initiative is part of CIVICUS Youth<\/a> and Civil Society Resourcing<\/a> workstreams to build a more resilient, effective, safe and diverse civil society in the 21st Century<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

\nThe Challenge<\/span><\/span><\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n
\n
\n
\n
\nYoung
\n people are facing increasing barriers and threats to their activism.
\nYouth-led movements are unable to access sustainable resourcing, lack
\nthe technical capacity and networks to engage with political systems,
\nand continue to work in silos, separated from other movements and
\nactivists across geographies, movements, and causes.<\/p>\n

Often times,
\n these barriers and existing hierarchies in civil society often position
\n youth as foot soldiers and not as change agents. Through extensive
\nresearch and consultation with stakeholders, CIVICUS has come to
\nunderstand that designing an alternative resourcing mechanism that
\ncenters meaningful youth participation is imperative to achieve a
\nsustainable, resilient, and inclusive civil society. Our solution to the
\n aforementioned problems is launching a Youth Action Lab, an
\nexperimentation lab for ten young activists based in the Global South
\n(Latin America and the Caribbean, Middle East and North Africa,
\nSub-Saharan Africa, Asia, and the Pacific) that would support them in
\nbeing more sustainable and resilient in their activism.<\/p><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

\n1. Accessing Resources<\/h2>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\nThe
\n Lab will provide participants with an unrestricted microgrant of up to
\n$2499 USD, access to in-kind support and other non-financial resources,
\nas well as capacity strengthening in order to support more sustainable
\nand resilient movements.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n

\n Lab will provide opportunities for capacity strengthening through
\npeer-to-peer learning, coaching, and skill-building workshops with the
\naim of supporting youth activists to be more strategic and targeted in
\ntheir campaigning.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n

\n Lab, through an in-person residency and regular peer learning sessions,

\nconnect, share experiences, and heal together, in order to build
