\nBEAMLINE FOR SCHOOLS (BL4S)<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n
\n<\/span><\/span>International competition <\/span><\/span><\/span>for high school students from all around the world<\/span><\/span><\/span> organised by CERN, the European Organization for Nuclear Research, in Geneva, Switzerland<\/span><\/span><\/span><\/b><\/div>\n
\nThe competition invites teams of
\nhigh-school students to propose a scientific experiment that they want
\nto perform. Because of the maintenance of CERN’s accelerators since the
\nend of 2018, the winning experiments in 2020 will be run at DESY<\/a> in
\n Hamburg, Germany. The first prize for the winning teams is a trip to
\nDESY to carry out their proposed experiments at a fully-equipped
\naccelerator beamline. There are additional prizes for shortlisted teams
\nand certificates for all participants. How to take part?<\/div>\n

\nBeamline for Schools \u2013 Be a scientist!<\/b><\/span><\/span><\/span><\/h1>\n

\nDid
\n you ever wonder what it is like to be a scientist? If you\u2019re up for a
\nchallenge, the BL4S competition is your chance to experience it. Any
\nhigh-school student from all around the world can join the
\nadventure. Jump into the world of particle physics and think of a simple
\n and creative experiment.\n<\/div>\n
\n<\/div>\n

\nWho is eligible?
\n <\/h4>\n
\nThe
\n competition is open to teams of high-school students from all around
\nthe world who, if they win, are invited (with up to two adult team
\ncoaches) to DESY to run their experiment. Teams must have at least five
\nstudents with at least one adult team coach,<\/span> but
\n there is no upper limit to a team\u2019s size (although just nine students
\nper winning team will be invited to DESY). Teams may be composed of
\nstudents from a single school, or a number of schools working together. Take part in this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity!<\/b><\/div>\n

\nWhich experiments can be proposed?
\n <\/h4>\n
\nYour
\n team is totally free with respect to the experiment that you propose as
\n long as it does not rise any safety concerns. The technical feasibility
\n will be an important criterion for the selection of the winners. We
\nknow that judging what is feasible and what is not may be difficult for
\nyou. Refer to this support document<\/a> for information.<\/div>\n

\nWhen is the deadline for the next competition?
\n <\/h4>\n
\nIn order to take part in the next BL4S edition 2020, you have to submit your proposal<\/a> until 31 March 2020 midnight CET.<\/div>\n
