\nThis award, named after TWAS Fellow Quarraisha Abdool Karim, carries a cash award of USD5,000 generously provided by Professor Abdool Karim. It is designed to honour women scientists in Low Income African countries for their achievements in Biological Sciences.<\/span><\/span>

\n2020 edition of the award:<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\nThe award recognizes women scientists for their achievements in Biological Sciences.<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nEligible nominees are female scientists<\/strong> national of a Low Income African country<\/strong> who have been living and working there for at least two years immediately prior to their nomination. (i.e. from 18\/2\/2018);<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nFellows of TWAS are not eligible;<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
\nSelection:<\/span><\/strong><\/div>\n
\nA pre-screening of the candidates will be done at TWAS, the nomination dossiers of the qualified candidates will then be submitted to jury members for their evaluation. Based on this evaluation Prof. Quarraisha Abdool Karim will select the winner.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nThe 2020 nominations can only be submitted electronically through the on-line platform by clicking on the \u201cNEW NOMINATION<\/strong>\u201d button at the bottom of this page.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n

\nThe extended deadline for receiving nominations is 3 June 2020<\/strong>, however we strongly recommend that you do not wait until the deadline but submit the nomination as early as you can to enable us to process it as quickly as possible.<\/span><\/span><\/div>\n
