Call for Applications to participate in the training programme of the Seventh Round of the Women\u2019s Human Rights Training Institute (WHRTI-7), 2018-2019.<\/strong><\/div>\n
<\/div>\n
The Institute is\u00a0a unique education and training programme<\/strong>\u00a0founded in 2004 and is the first-of-its-kind advanced training programme aimed at building and developing the capacity of young lawyers from Central and Eastern European Europe and the Newly Independent States (CEE\/NIS) for litigation on women\u2019s rights issues, including:<\/div>\n
\u2013 violence against women and domestic violence,<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2013 sexual and reproductive health and rights, and<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2013 social and economic rights, and employment discrimination,<\/strong><\/div>\n
\u2013 multiple discrimination<\/strong><\/div>\n
The Institute, organized by the BGRF in cooperation with its partners, has already successfully completed six rounds: WHRTI-1 \u2013 2004-2006, WHRTI-2 \u2013 2007-2009, WHRTI-3 \u2013 2009-2011, WHRTI-4 \u2013 2011-2013, WHRTI-5 \u2013 2014-2016 and WHRTI-6 \u2013 2016-2017, and has trained more than 120 lawyers.<\/div>\n
The WHRTI provides the participants\u00a0advanced and in-depth knowledge and practical exercises on women\u2019s human rights protection\u00a0<\/strong>in the four main areas noted above. The WHRTI improves their\u00a0practical skills in legal writing and advocacy (in English) for development of strategic litigation\u00a0<\/strong>in the region both at the national and international levels\u00a0through the use of regional and universal human rights mechanisms<\/strong>\u00a0such as\u00a0the European Convention on Human Rights<\/strong>\u00a0(ECHR),\u00a0the UN Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women<\/strong>\u00a0(CEDAW), and\u00a0the Optional Protocol to CEDAW<\/strong>\u00a0as well as\u00a0the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights\u00a0<\/strong>(ICCPR) and\u00a0the Optional Protocol to ICCPR<\/strong>. The WHRTI also gives lawyers an opportunity to get acquainted with\u00a0the EU standards<\/strong>\u00a0in the field of equal treatment of women and men, including\u00a0the relevant case law of the Court of Justice of the European Union<\/strong>.<\/div>\n
ELIGIBILITY:<\/strong><\/div>\n
Twenty five participants<\/strong>\u00a0will be selected among\u00a0practicing lawyers and legal counselors working with human rights or women\u2019s rights NGOs<\/strong>\u00a0in the region. Successful applicants should:<\/div>\n
