We will show you where to find documents, how to analyse them and other practical tools to help uncover financial secrecy.<\/div>\n<div>A combination of guidance from senior practitioners and a workshop approach will give you the basis to investigate financial corruption as well as offering the opportunity to network with other journalists and activists.<\/div>\n<div>For the first time, this course will include a hands-on dat<span>a security module by\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.freepressunlimited.org\/en\">Free Press Unlimited<\/a><\/span>, as part of the new\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.money-trail.org\/\">Mon<span>eyTrail<\/span><\/a>\u00a0consortium which also includes\u00a0<span><a href=\"https:\/\/journalismfund.wordpress.com\/\">Journalismfund.eu<\/a><\/span>\u00a0and\u00a0<span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.oxfamnovib.nl\/\">Oxfam Novib<\/a><\/span>.<\/div>\n<div>The financial investigation section of our course aims to help participants understand:<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>the building blocks of the offshore world<\/li>\n<li>how to access and interpret company accounts<\/li>\n<li>where to access other company information<\/li>\n<li>the methodology behind the groundbreaking tax avoidance investigations into Google, SAB Miller and Vodafone \u2013 by the journalists who conducted them<\/li>\n<li>how to investigate and report corruption stories<\/li>\n<li>the steps required to keep safe and minimise personal risk<\/li>\n<li>how to track the international policy agenda relating to illicit financial flows<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div><strong>Bursaries available<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Bursaries are available for\u00a0<strong>journalists\u00a0<\/strong>from the developing world and eastern Europe. Bursaries cover visa fees, travel, accommodation and per diems for food and travel in London. Due to the limited number of bursaries, applicants will be selected on their track record in investigative journalism. As we tend to be over-subscribed some candidates will be placed on a waiting list for our 2019 courses.<\/div>\n<div><strong>Western Journalists, Academics &amp; Campaigners<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>Journalists from the UK\u00a0and Europe are very welcome to apply. We\u00a0\u00a0charge a \u00a3650 course fee. This\u00a0contributes towards Finance Uncovered\u00a0administrative and editorial costs.
