Aromatici: unde grupele functionale sunt legate de un ciclu aromatic.<br \/>\nDupa asezarea relativa a grupelor functionale se deosebesc \u03b1-amino-acizi, \u03b2-amino-acizi, \u03b3-amino-acizi, etc. Dintre amino-acizii alifatici, cei mai importanti sunt \u03b1-amino-acizi, adica acei amino-acizi care contin grupele functionale legate de acelasi atom de carbon.
