SENIOR LEGAL CONSULTANT

Spark Legal Network is looking to recruit a dynamic, pro-active and experienced Senior Legal Consultant to strengthen the team on a full-time basis, starting at short notice (preferably from June/July 2021). The successful candidate will have experience in EU legal consultancy work (preferably in the area of DG JUST and / or HOME). He/she will be working remotely (but will be based in our Brussels office as soon as this is possible considering the current COVID situation).

As a Senior Legal Consultant at Spark you will, amongst other things, engage in the following tasks:

  • Actively contributing to Spark’s Business Development Strategy, including leading the acquisition of new EU projects and studies through tendering
  • Execution of EU projects and studies, including:
    • Management of project teams
    • Coordination of cross-border legal and policy research and analysis
    • Coordination and performance of (comparative) legal analysis
    • Drafting of project reports and presentations
  • Communication with a wide range of high-profile clients and partners
  • Actively staying up to date with relevant EU law and policy developments

ADMINISTRATOR (PART-TIME)

Spark Legal Network is looking to recruit a reliable and well-organised administrator to join our team on a part-time basis of 16-20 hours per week, starting at short notice (from June 2021). The successful candidate will be based in our Brussels office as soon as Covid-19 regulations permit.

Spark Legal Network, established in 2011, is a dynamic consultancy firm, providing legal and policy research services in a broad range of areas, such as data protection, intellectual property, competition and energy. Its clients include the European institutions, national governments, consultancies and international law firms. Spark has a unique operating model founded on an extensive network consisting of experts from both academia and legal practice across Europe, covering all EU and EFTA countries. Our projects are coordinated by a highly qualified professional and international team based in our London and Brussels offices.

Due to our fast growth, we are looking for an administrator to help us with the following tasks:

  • Managing the administrative part of tenders (including submission, by post or online) and projects (contracts, invoicing)
  • Assisting with HR tasks, managing contracts/contract renewal, recruitment, communication with the payroll company, etc
  • Managing online databases and other filing systems
  • General administrative duties such as filing, managing correspondence, scanning, ordering office stationery etc

Requirements:

  • Proven experience as an administrator or similar in a professional services environment (tendering experience preferred)
  • Attention to detail and organisational skills
  • Ability to work to deadlines
  • Knowledge of office administrator responsibilities, systems and procedures
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)
  • Exceptional time management skills and ability to multi-task and prioritise work
  • At least a secondary education diploma (TSO, KSO or ASO)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills and high degree of proficiency in English
  • Good level of Dutch is preferred

Spark Legal Network is looking for a freelance economist, interested in working with a team of dedicated and experienced professionals on legal, regulatory and policy tenders and projects.

Its clients include the European institutions, national governments, consultancies and international law firms. Spark has a unique operating model founded on an extensive network consisting of over 1000 experts from both academia and legal practice across Europe, covering all EU and EFTA countries. Our projects are coordinated by a highly qualified professional and international team based in London and Brussels.

Profile:

  • A strong background in Economics, i.e. a Masters or PhD Degree in Economics and proven relevant working experience;
  • At least 5 years’ experience of preparing tender proposals and carrying out studies for the European institutions (or other relevant parties);
  • Fluent English language skills;
  • Independent and flexible work schedule and attitude.

Tasks:
